Ozzy Trapilo nears return to Chicago Bears after major injury
Chicago Bears offensive lineman Ozzy Trapilo is nearing a return to team drills following a severe patellar tendon rupture sustained in January. The injury is considered particularly difficult for offensive linemen to recover from due to the physical demands of the position.
Bears offensive line coach Dan Roushar expressed encouragement regarding Trapilo’s progress, noting that the player has completed post-work and is getting closer to full integration. The recovery has exceeded the expectations of the team’s medical staff; head trainer Andre Tucker previously indicated that very few players successfully recover from this specific type of injury.
While some NFL players have returned from patellar injuries, the recovery of a high-mass offensive lineman is rare. Roushar described Trapilo’s progress as ‘unbelievable’ as he prepares to rejoin team activities shortly.
