P. H. Poojar files nomination for Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman

P. H. Poojar, the NDA alliance candidate, has filed his nomination for the post of Chairman of the Karnataka Legislative Council. The nomination was submitted to Legislative Council Secretary Jyoti on Thursday, supported by Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, Opposition Chief Whip N. Ravikumar, and other NDA legislators.

Poojar, a BJP Member of the Legislative Council representing the local authorities constituency, is an entrepreneur and agriculturist from the Bagalkot-Vijayapura region. The election for the Chairman position is expected to take place on Friday during the current Monsoon Session of the Karnataka Legislature.

Competing for the position is Congress MLC Salim Ahmed, who filed his nomination in the presence of Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar. Meanwhile, former Chairman Basavaraj Horatti has alleged that he was compelled to sign his resignation letter and is awaiting communication from the Governor regarding its acceptance.
