På spåret season premiere highlights selection patterns for Swedish destinations
A new season of the Swedish television program ‘På spåret’ is set to premiere this Friday, visiting fifteen different destinations across Sweden. Data analysis by Newsworthy suggests several factors influence which locations are selected for the show.
Key indicators for selection include population size and the presence of a railway station. While having a train station is not a guarantee, 129 of the 163 locations featured in the show's 36-season history have had platforms. Larger towns are more likely to be visited; 48 of the 58 locations with over 25,000 inhabitants have appeared on the program, whereas only 29 locations with fewer than 5,000 residents have been featured.
Stockholm has been the most visited destination with nine appearances, followed by Gothenburg and Malmö with eight each. The analysis also notes that the time elapsed since a location's last appearance plays a role in its likelihood of returning.
