Pía Ricchieri discusses running as a visually impaired athlete

Visually impaired runner Pía Ricchieri, a lawyer from Trenque Lauquen, shared her experiences with the sport during a discussion on the motivations behind running as a lifestyle. Ricchieri, who joined the Leones de la Patria running group in La Plata in September 2025, highlighted the deep bond of trust formed between visually impaired athletes and their guides.

Pablo Arteca, a coach and guide for the Leones de la Patria, described the role of guides as providing the necessary connection for athletes with disabilities to participate fully in the sport. Ricchieri noted that the relationship is built on mutual respect and the guide's ability to describe the terrain, describing the guidance as a gesture of care rather than a burden.
