Pablo Aguilar-Alvarez sentenced to prison for repeat felony DWI

Pablo Aguilar-Alvarez, a 36-year-old Salvadoran national, has been sentenced to between 2⅓ and seven years in prison following his fourth felony driving while intoxicated (DWI) conviction in ten years. The sentencing follows a jury conviction in Suffolk County regarding an incident in Southampton where Aguilar-Alvarez exhibited signs of intoxication, including a blood alcohol content of 0.17 percent.

Prosecutors noted that Aguilar-Alvarez had previously been deported in March 2024 but returned to the United States without legal authorization. Following a subsequent arrest for driving without a license in Riverhead, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer. Aguilar-Alvarez will be transferred to the custody of federal immigration authorities to face deportation after he completes his prison sentence.
