Criminal leaders sentenced for arms trafficking and political attacks

In the Dominican Republic, a court in Santiago has sentenced several leaders of a criminal network involved in the illegal trafficking, storage, and distribution of high-caliber firearms. The organization reportedly smuggled weapons from the United States to the Dominican Republic, using modified tanks with hidden compartments for transport. Hornandys Emmanuel Cruz Almonte received a 10-year prison sentence, while other key members received sentences ranging from five to six years. Authorities seized 18 high-power pistols, revolvers, shotguns, and significant amounts of cash during raids in Licey al Medio, Santiago, and Moca.

In Argentina, Pablo Antonio Ceferino Dahua was sentenced to six years in prison for an explosive attack on the La Cámpora political headquarters in Bahía Blanca in May 2021. Dahua, who accepted responsibility through an abbreviated trial, was also convicted of leading an illicit association with Nazi ideology aimed at using force to combat opposing political views and committing discriminatory acts. Another individual associated with the case received a three-year suspended sentence.
