Pablo David Llanes found alive in Baños after disappearance in Quito

On July 29, 2026, 29‑year‑old programmer Pablo David Llanes vanished after leaving a gym in north Quito. His family, including his father former assemblyman Henry Llanes, launched a search that drew extensive police and Dinased involvement.

Rumors spread on social media that Llanes had been drugged with scopolamine and that his belongings were stolen. The National Police and Dinased dismissed these claims, stating no evidence of kidnapping or drug use was found.

On August 1, police located Llanes alive in Baños de Agua Santa, Tungurahua. Officials said his disappearance was voluntary and linked to personal matters. He was taken to a health facility for evaluation before being reunited with his family, who expressed gratitude for the rescue.
