Pablo Marçal registers 2026 presidential candidacy via PRTB FAST-MOVING
Pablo Marçal has officially registered his candidacy for the 2026 Brazilian Presidency through the PRTB party. This move follows a judicial injunction from Judge Gustavo Nardi, which retroactively recognized Marçal's affiliation with the PRTB as of April 4, allowing him to meet the six-month party membership requirement for the upcoming election.
In his registration, Marçal declared a total patrimony of R$ 7.418 billion, a significant increase from his 2024 declaration. The majority of these assets, approximately R$ 6.791 billion, are held in fixed-income investments at Banco Itaú.
Despite the successful registration and party affiliation, Marçal remains legally ineligible to hold office until 2032. This status stems from multiple convictions by the Regional Electoral Court of São Paulo (TRE-SP) regarding his 2024 municipal campaign for the São Paulo mayoralty. The court cited abuse of political and economic power, specifically involving the use of social media to promise cash prizes to content creators to boost video views.
As part of the new presidential ticket, PRTB president Leonardo Avalanche will serve as the vice-presidential candidate, moving from his previous position as the party's primary presidential contender.
