El Hormiguero returns with political critiques and high ratings

The 21st season of the Spanish television program ‘El Hormiguero’ premiered on Antena 3 with high viewership, securing a 17.9% audience share. The season opener featured a mix of political commentary, celebrity interviews, and the return of comedian Carlos Latre.

Host Pablo Motos used the broadcast to launch a sharp critique of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez regarding the migration crisis in Ceuta. Motos characterized the situation as an ‘invasion’ and accused the government of being ‘charlatans’ who have misled the public while the Prime Minister was on vacation.

During the episode, Carlos Latre returned to the show following the cancellation of his previous project at Telecinco. Latre spoke candidly about his experience, stating he chose to leave his former format to avoid further suffering, noting, ‘I am only where I am happy.’
