Pablo Picasso exhibitions announced in Denmark and Austria
Major art exhibitions featuring the works of Pablo Picasso are being presented in Denmark and Austria.
In Aalborg, Denmark, the Museum of Modern Art (Kunsten) is hosting ‘Late Picasso’, an exhibition running until September 6. The show features over 60 works from the 1960s and 1970s, marking the most extensive Nordic display of Picasso’s late period in 40 years. The collection includes paintings and paper works that explore themes of aging, desire, and mortality through expressive, bold brushwork. It also highlights a series of male portraits from 1964–1965 that serve as explorations of the self.
In Vienna, Austria, the ALBERTINA will host ‘Picasso – Bacon. What It Feels Like to Be Human’ from September 18, 2026, to January 31, 2027. This exhibition juxtaposes approximately 70 key works from both Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon. The display focuses on the profound influence Picasso had on Bacon, positioning Picasso as a mentor and model for Bacon’s exploration of the human condition, vulnerability, and existential conflict.
