Pablo Yedlin criticizes energy subsidy cuts in cold regions

National Deputy Pablo Yedlin has criticized the reduction of energy subsidies in cold regions of Argentina. He specifically denounced the Bloque Independencia for voting to remove tariff benefits, arguing that the decision severely impacts the finances of thousands of families in vulnerable areas.

Yedlin noted that the reduction of the compensation regime for cold zones affects various points in the country, including the Buenos Aires coast and the Valles Calchaquíes in Tucumán. The controversy arises as a project to restructure the energy subsidy scheme moves toward a final vote in the Senate.

The legislator expressed skepticism regarding negotiations between the national Executive Branch and northern provincial leaders. While the central government aims to secure votes by promising future assistance for high-temperature zones, Yedlin warned that accepting current cuts in exchange for speculative future benefits risks undermining established rights and worsening the budgetary crisis for households facing inflation.
