Pacific Power offers rebates for medical backup power in Oregon
Pacific Power has launched the Oregon Backup Electric Power Rebate Program to assist customers who rely on electrically powered medical devices during power outages. Under the program, qualifying households can receive up to $1,000 toward backup systems, while licensed care facilities may qualify for up to $4,000.
To be eligible for the household rebate, applicants must maintain an active Pacific Power account and be enrolled in both the utility’s Medical Certificate program and its Oregon Low Income Discount program. For care facilities, the owner must also hold an active Pacific Power account. Eligible equipment must be purchased by the end of 2026, with applications and receipts submitted by January 31, 2027. Rebates are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until funding is exhausted.
As extreme weather and wildfires increase the risk of outages in Oregon, homeowners are increasingly seeking energy resilience. Options for backup power include solar plus battery storage, which offers a cleaner, quieter, and safer alternative to portable generators. Unlike fossil-fuel-powered generators, which pose carbon monoxide risks and require manual refueling, solar and battery systems provide automatic power transitions without exhaust or noise concerns.
