Regional sports competitions are intensifying across the Pacific. In the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, the race for the men’s final is nearing its conclusion. The Solomon Islands currently lead the standings with five points, followed by Vanuatu with four points. Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia both hold three points, while Fiji sits at the bottom with one point. The top two teams from the round-robin stage will advance to the final on October 3.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Golf Cup in Atimaono is serving as a major test for players ahead of the 2027 Pacific Games. New Zealand currently leads both the men’s and women’s divisions. In the men’s category, Reid Hilton holds the lead after two rounds, with Thao Plazanet in third. In the women’s category, Aroha Tito of New Zealand is in first place, with Tahiti’s Vaimiti Tunoa trailing by four strokes. The tournament continues through Sunday with team competitions.
