Pacific Ring of Fire records 187 major earthquakes in one week

The Pacific Ring of Fire has experienced intense seismic activity over the last seven days. According to reports from the United States Geological Survey (USGS), 187 earthquakes with a magnitude of 4.5 or higher were recorded.

In total, 486 seismic events with a magnitude of 1.5 or greater occurred along the 40,000-kilometer belt during this period. The most powerful earthquake recorded had a magnitude of 6.0, with its epicenter located near Honchó, Japan.

Reports indicate significant damage and multiple fatalities in Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Indonesia, with a death toll exceeding 6,500. This high level of activity is attributed to the convergence and friction of various tectonic plates, including the Pacific, Cocos, Nazca, and Philippine plates.
