Padang authorities strengthen protection for women and children
The Padang City Government, through the Department of Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control, and Family Planning (DP3AP2KB), is implementing new initiatives to enhance the safety of women and children.
As part of a prevention strategy, 30 representatives from the Padang City Children's Forum have been trained in the 'Pioneer and Reporter' (2P) concept. This program prepares children to act as change agents who can model positive behavior and proactively report bullying or violence in schools and residential areas to authorities.
Additionally, the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection has activated the 'Sahabat Perempuan dan Anak' (SAPA) Post at the Lubuk Buaya temporary housing site. This facility aims to provide accessible protection services for women and children affected by disasters. Eight prospective officers have undergone technical training to manage complaint reception, referral mechanisms, and victim assistance, ensuring responsive support within the community.
