Padang City Cycling Event Draws 3,000 Participants

Around 3,000 cyclists from across Indonesia took part in the Gowes Siti Nurbaya Adventure‑X ride organized by the Padang city government to mark the city’s 357th anniversary. The ride started at Simpang Jamria near the Masjid Raya Syekh Ahmad Khatib Al‑Minangkabawi and finished at Pantai Cimpago, offering both a short and a long route that passed several iconic city landmarks.

Mayor Fadly Amran and Acting Regional Secretary Adib Alfikri released the participants, highlighting the event’s role in promoting Padang’s tourism potential, healthy lifestyles, and the city’s smart‑city vision. The gathering included 2,226 cyclists from clubs nationwide, 774 local officials, students and other participants, representing 165 cycling communities. The event also featured the distribution of the Indonesian flag as part of a nationwide campaign to celebrate the nation’s 81st independence anniversary.
