Padang City implements digital queuing for diesel trucks

The Padang City Government has implemented a digital queuing system to manage long lines of freight trucks seeking subsidized diesel. Starting October 10, 2026, the waiting area for trucks heading to the Bandar Buat gas station has been moved from public roadsides to the Koto Lalang Truck Special Parking Area (TKP).

The new system utilizes QR codes to allow drivers to wait comfortably in a designated facility. Drivers are notified digitally when their queue number is called, allowing them to proceed to the gas station without causing traffic congestion or safety hazards on main roads.

Mayor Fadly Amran stated that this initiative is part of the ‘Padang Smart City’ program, aiming to integrate digital services and banking, such as through Bank Nagari, to improve urban governance and public order. While the measure does not address fuel scarcity, officials noted it minimizes the impact on local economic activities and traffic safety.
