Padang implements infrastructure, school recovery, and education aid programs

The Padang City Government is implementing several strategic initiatives focused on infrastructure, disaster recovery, and education support.

In terms of infrastructure, Mayor Fadly Amran is overseeing the progress of a Rp9.4 billion road widening and paving project toward Pasir Jambak. The project, funded by Special Allocation Funds (DAK), is approximately 95.6 percent complete and is expected to be finished by mid-September 2026.

Regarding education and disaster recovery, Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, led by Agung Widyantoro, recently inspected the rehabilitation of schools damaged by floods in late 2025. Facilities such as SDN 04 Baringin are receiving significant funding from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to rebuild classrooms, libraries, and sanitation facilities, with completion targeted for late September 2026.

Additionally, the Padang City Government has launched a program to provide free school uniforms for thousands of students from low-income families (DTSEN deciles 1 to 5) for the 2026/2027 academic year. This initiative covers both public and private elementary and junior high schools to alleviate the economic burden on parents.
