Padang Mayor promotes sport tourism through golf tournament

Padang Mayor Fadly Amran officially closed the Wali Kota Padang Cup Executive Golf Tournament 2026, held at the Wirabraja Golf Club in Ulu Gadut. Organized by the Padang City Indonesian Golf Association (PGI), the event is viewed as a strategic tool to boost sport tourism and attract new investment to the city.

Amran emphasized that golf development aligns with the ‘Padang Balomba’ program, which promotes physical fitness, health, and sportainment. He encouraged the PGI to make the tournament a recurring event to foster cross-sector communication and economic growth.

Additionally, the Mayor highlighted the city's efforts to join the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) under the Gastronomy category. He noted that integrating sports tourism with Padang's local culinary ecosystem could strengthen the city's international identity and attract more foreign tourists.
