Padang Pariaman farmers receive technology to process kaliandra leaves

Farmers in Nagari III Koto Aur Malintang Selatan, Padang Pariaman, are being trained to process kaliandra leaves into high-value economic commodities, specifically nutrient-rich livestock and fish feed.

Through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative by PT Semen Padang, local farmer groups participated in training sessions held in early September 2026. The program included technical instruction from experts at Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh (PPNP). To support practical operations, participants were provided with production tools, including a shredding machine, a pellet maker, and honey hives.

Prof. Ramaiyulis from PPNP demonstrated methods such as silage production, where kaliandra leaves are mixed with other forage like corn stalks or rice straw and fermented to create optimal feed for ruminants such as cows, goats, and buffaloes.
