Paddy Pimblett outlines tactical shift for Justin Gaethje rematch

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett has revealed a significant change in strategy he would employ if granted a rematch against Justin Gaethje. Following a unanimous decision loss to Gaethje in January, which resulted in Gaethje winning the interim lightweight title, Pimblett admitted that his previous approach was flawed.

In their initial bout, Pimblett attempted to trade strikes with the powerful striker rather than utilizing his superior grappling skills. To correct this, Pimblett stated he would prioritize takedowns immediately, aiming to secure a submission within the first ten seconds of the fight.

Pimblett recently regained momentum by submitting Benoit Saint-Denis in July. While he remains in contention for title opportunities, he expressed a preference for a rematch with Gaethje over a fight with Ilia Topuria. However, Pimblett noted that Gaethje, who recently became the undisputed lightweight champion, may consider retirement following his recent championship success.
