Padel professional Naim Diaz utilizes unique grip technique
Argentine padel player Naim Diaz, an 18-year-old ranked 170th in the FIP, has gained attention for his unconventional racket grip preparation. During the FIP Bronze Viña del Mar, Diaz revealed that he applies five grips to the base of his Babolat racket.
This technique is intended to lower the racket's balance and weight at the tip, providing more comfort and preventing the racket from slipping during smashes. Diaz, who recently won the FIP Bronze Paraguay, uses this method to enhance his performance with a harder Babolat racket.
In addition to equipment customization, physical preparation remains a critical component for padel players to improve performance and prevent injuries. Effective routines include general warm-ups such as light jogging and lateral movements, joint mobility for shoulders and ankles, and sport-specific drills like split steps and simulated strokes.
