Padel sport experiences rapid growth in Eastern Antioquia

Padel, a sport that originated in 1969 in Acapulco, Mexico, when Enrique Corcuera adapted a small space with walls and a net, has seen significant expansion in Colombia. While the sport first arrived in the country around 2015, with specialized clubs emerging in Medellín and Antioquia by 2018, it has since transformed from a niche curiosity into a major industry.

The Eastern Antioquia region has become a primary hub for this growth, now hosting more than ten clubs and over 30 courts. This development follows the sport's historical trajectory from Mexico to Spain and Argentina, eventually leading to the establishment of the International Padel Federation in 1991.
