Padova advances urban greening and infrastructure projects

Urban redevelopment projects are underway in Padova, Italy, focusing on green infrastructure and public space optimization.

In the Prandina area, work has commenced on a wooded parking lot as part of the ‘Padova Garden Park’ trilogy. The project, designed by architect Linda Bagaglio, aims to create high-quality urban voids by transforming the area into public greenery and restoring an ancient convent orchard. The contract, valued at approximately €1.66 million, was awarded to a temporary grouping of companies including Brenta Lavori, Brussi Costruzioni, and Maroso Costruzioni. This initiative is part of a broader plan for the San Benedetto Walls Park, which includes pedestrian paths, tram lines, and the recovery of historic buildings.

Additionally, an executive project has been presented for Piazza De Gasperi. Scheduled to begin in late spring 2027, this €200,000 intervention will focus on renovating sidewalks, installing new flower beds, and reorganizing existing parking spaces. Unlike the Prandina project, this work does not aim to create new parking facilities but rather to improve the order and legibility of the current urban layout.
