Padova family clinic highlights social challenges and domestic violence

Margherita Colonnello, a municipal councilor, recently visited the socio-educational family clinic of the Centro Italiano Femminile (CIF) in Padova. The facility, which has been active since 1972 and recognized by the Veneto Region since 1978, provides free services including psychological counseling, social work, legal advice, and gynecological care.

Staff members reported a complex landscape of social issues, including adolescent distress, parental difficulties, relationship crises, and economic fragility. Notably, the clinic often serves as the first point of contact for women seeking to report domestic violence, even when they initially sought help for unrelated matters. In response, the center utilizes trained professionals to activate specialized anti-violence services and also implements programs for men to address responsibility and awareness regarding violent behaviors.
