Padre Guilherme to perform religious electronic concert in Opole
Portuguese priest, former military chaplain, and DJ Padre Guilherme is set to perform the ‘W górę serca’ concert at the Itaka Arena in Opole, Poland. Originally planned as a smaller event in front of the Opole Cathedral, the high demand for tickets forced a venue change to the stadium, which is expected to host approximately 14,000 people.
Guilherme, whose international fame grew after performing electronic sets during World Youth Day in Lisbon, began his DJ career while serving in Afghanistan. His musical style blends electronic beats with religious music and papal quotes. During a recent mass at the Opole Cathedral, he spoke about the influence of Pope John Paul II and described his mission as ‘planting the seed of faith in the hearts of others’ rather than seeking conversions.
The upcoming concert serves as a major test for the Itaka Arena as a concert venue, with a large stage being constructed on the pitch.
