Padre Viegas celebrates 321 years and patron saint feast

The district of Padre Viegas, also known as Sumidouro, will celebrate its 321st anniversary and the feast of its patron saint, Nossa Senhora do Rosário, throughout October.

Religious celebrations for the patron saint are scheduled from October 4 to October 6, with a festive celebration and procession taking place on October 7. Following the religious events, cultural festivities will be held the following weekend. The program includes a gospel night on October 9, musical performances on October 10, and community activities such as a leisure street and literary projects on October 11.

The City Hall of Mariana has allocated R$ 100,000 to support the cultural programming, aimed at promoting local traditions, tourism, and leisure. The Association of Musicians and Event Professionals of the Inconfidentes Region (Ampere) will manage the resources and organize the events, which will feature reinforced security measures.
