Padua to Host Two Major Academic Conferences in 2026

The University of Padova will host a two‑day scholarly conference on the medieval theological links between Saint Antonio of Padua and the Vittorine tradition on 21‑22 September 2026. The event, organized with the Centro Studi Antoniani and several European research institutes, will feature papers on the cross‑influences of the San Vittore school and Franciscan thought.

A separate conference, “Eseguire Metastasio. Lettura dei drammi per musica (1724‑1771),” will take place at the University of Padova’s Beato Pellegrino campus on 14‑15 May 2026, followed by a second meeting in Perugia in December 2026 and a concluding session in Padova in March 2027. The project, a collaboration between the University of Padova and the University for Foreigners of Perugia, aims to present a comprehensive reading of Metastasio’s musical dramas with contributions from Italianists, musicologists and theatre historians.
