Padules Mayor criticizes lack of regional support for natural monument

Antonio Gutiérrez, the mayor of Padules in Almería, has expressed indignation regarding the lack of assistance from the Junta de Andalucía in managing the Las Canales de Padules Natural Monument. He stated that for years, the local council has had to handle all cleaning, maintenance, path repairs, and traffic control without significant regional collaboration.

Gutiérrez noted that the municipality, which has only 400 inhabitants, lacks the resources necessary to manage the site, which serves as a vital economic driver for the area. He also highlighted that a negative report from the regional administration regarding a new trail project, which included a suspension bridge, resulted in the loss of 220,000 euros in European funds.
