PAGCOR reports 26% revenue drop in H1 2026 amid geopolitical tensions and e‑gaming slump

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) disclosed that its first‑half 2026 revenue fell 26.6% year‑on‑year to PHP 43.32 billion, down from PHP 59.05 billion in the same period of 2025. Gaming operations remain the main source of income, but overall gaming revenue slipped 27.1% to PHP 38.92 billion. Revenue from electronic gaming (eGames) plunged about 42%, reaching PHP 18.6 billion, while licensed casino earnings dropped 3.9% and PAGCOR‑run casinos fell 8.7%.

Net operational income declined 35% to PHP 31.75 billion and net profit eroded 85% to PHP 1.58 billion. PAGCOR attributed the downturn to lingering Middle‑East geopolitical tensions that reduced consumer spending in the first quarter, higher international fuel prices, and stricter online‑gaming regulations, including tighter e‑wallet controls. The corporation still contributed PHP 30.16 billion to the national treasury through mandatory remittances and taxes. CEO and Chairman Alejandro H. Tengco said market conditions improved in the second quarter but uncertainty remains.
