Pahang Royal calls for strengthening of state history and legal heritage
Tengku Ampuan Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, has emphasized the need to empower the Pahang Museum as a center for preserving state history and heritage. She advocated for museums to function as “living museums” to engage the younger generation and foster a sense of identity and origin.
To support this, she suggested establishing royal galleries in every district of Pahang to display gifts presented by citizens, as well as a gallery within the Kuantan City Council building to showcase the state's royal institutions and leadership history.
In response, Malaysia’s Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, expressed the ministry's commitment to supporting research into Malay legal history and manuscripts. He highlighted the importance of studying the Hukum Kanun Pahang to better understand historical Malay governance and civilization. The Ministry of Higher Education plans to mobilize university departments to conduct more comprehensive research into these historical legal treasures.
