PAHO provides aid to 226,000 people following Venezuela earthquakes

Two months after devastating earthquakes of magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 struck Venezuela, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has reported that its humanitarian response plan has assisted over 226,000 people.

Working alongside the Venezuelan Ministry of Health, PAHO has deployed technical and logistical cooperation to maintain the healthcare network and protect vulnerable populations. Official figures indicate a death toll of 6,509 identified individuals and projected material losses of $37 billion. Emergency medical teams have conducted more than 44,000 direct consultations.

Key relief efforts include the distribution of medical supplies to 38 essential health facilities and the administration of 2.9 million vaccine doses to prevent outbreaks in shelters. Additionally, the organization has provided supplies for water purification and the reactivation of the public health laboratory in La Guaira.
