Azzi Fudd to undergo season-ending knee surgery

Dallas Wings rookie guard Azzi Fudd will miss the remainder of the 2026 WNBA season to undergo arthroscopic surgery on her right knee. The procedure is scheduled for next week in Connecticut to address ongoing soreness. Fudd, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, has not played since August 5.

Fudd has a history of significant knee injuries, including previous ACL and meniscus tears. During her rookie season, she averaged 13.1 points and became the first rookie to win the WNBA 3-point contest. Her absence is a significant blow to the Wings, who currently hold an eighth-place position in the standings and are fighting for a playoff spot.

Separately, Fudd and her former UConn teammate Paige Bueckers are set to discuss their romantic relationship for the first time in the upcoming Apple TV+ docuseries, ‘The Dynasty: UConn Huskies’, which premieres August 21.
