Paihuano municipality unlocks funds for water supply to Chañar Blanco

During a meeting in La Serena, the mayor of Paihuano, Hernán Ahumada, announced that central government funds have been released to restart the "Proyecto 52 Bis de Agua Potable" for the community of Chañar Blanco. The financing, secured with the regional Subdere office, will allow the resumption of works that were halted in the previous administration due to a lack of money. The project is expected to bring potable water to about 20 families that have long faced difficulty accessing the service.

Mayor Ahumada said, "We are very happy because this is news the residents have been waiting for a long time. After many meetings in Santiago and regional offices, the effort finally bears fruit." Subregional agent Leonardo Alfaro highlighted the government's commitment despite a limited budget, and community leader Andrea Rodríguez expressed gratitude for the long‑awaited solution.

The municipality will now formally request the released resources to begin construction as soon as possible, aiming to deliver drinking water to households in Chañar Blanco in the near term.
