Paipa hosts gastronomic and dance festival to celebrate cheese heritage

The municipality of Paipa is hosting the IV Gastronomic and Cultural Festival of Paipa Cheese and the III Paipa Dance Fest at the Raíces de Paipa market square. The event, running from October 23 to October 25, features a variety of activities including Colombian folk dance workshops, urban dance, live cooking demonstrations, and a bicycle race.

This year’s festival marks a significant milestone for local producers. After 17 years of effort, the Association of Paipa Cheese Producers (ASOQUESO) has been granted the authority by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce to administer the Protected Designation of Origin seal. This transition allows local families and producers to directly manage the authenticity and commercialization of the cheese, aiming to strengthen regional tourism and expand market reach.
