PAIPPA celebrates 30 years of supporting small producers in Formosa

The Integral Assistance Program for the Small Agricultural Producer (PAIPPA) in Formosa, Argentina, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Launched on September 15, 1996, by Governor Gildo Insfrán, the program was designed to support small-scale producers and strengthen family farming within the province.

Key achievements highlighted during the anniversary include the regularization and legalization of land for small producers, as well as advancements in rural education, health, and infrastructure. The program is credited with diversifying the local economy, which historically relied heavily on cotton production.

Commemorative activities are being held in the capital city at Galpón “G”, featuring lectures on the historical roots of the agrarian movement in Formosa and discussions regarding the program's impact on production, land rights, and social services. Former executive coordinator Carlos Sotelo noted that the program was created to address challenges similar to those faced during periods of neoliberal economic policies.
