Paiva municipalities launch senior walk and host Barrelas Summer Fest

The council of Castelo de Paiva has opened registrations for the 2026 edition of the Senior Walk to Viana do Castelo, an initiative of the Viver Ativo program aimed at encouraging active ageing. Interested seniors must register by 15 August through their local parish offices, with groups scheduled to travel on 24 August, 26 August and 28 August according to their parish of residence.

At the same time, Vila Nova de Paiva is holding the third Barrelas Summer Fest, a two‑day music event at the municipal stadium featuring national and international artists such as Morcheeba, dEUS, Apocalyptica and Jet. Mayor Paulo Marques highlighted the festival’s role in revitalising the interior region, citing expected economic and social benefits for local businesses and community pride.
