Paju City Launches Seohae Line Extension to Unjeong Station

Paju City held a groundbreaking ceremony on 24 April for the Seohae Line extension from the existing terminus at Ilsan Station to Unjeong Station, adding 5.3 km of rail. The project, approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in January 2024, is being carried out in partnership with the Korea National Railway and Korail.

Mayor Son Bae‑chan said the extension will create a new transportation hub, cut travel time to Gimpo Airport from about 90 minutes by bus to under 30 minutes by train, and serve as the first step in a broader plan that includes extending subway line 3, the GTX‑H, and KTX services to Paju. The city will monitor construction closely to minimise resident inconvenience and ensure timely completion.
