Paju City prepares response to North Korean propaganda broadcasts

Paju City has announced emergency measures to protect residents following indications that North Korea may resume propaganda broadcasts directed at South Korea. The potential resumption of these broadcasts, which have been inactive for approximately 16 months, has raised concerns among residents in border areas regarding psychological stress and noise pollution.

Local authorities plan to conduct noise level measurements and on-site inspections in areas within the influence of North Korean loudspeakers to assess the impact of any broadcasts. The city intends to monitor resident complaints and analyze damage to develop response strategies in cooperation with relevant government agencies.

Paju Mayor Son Bae-chan stated that the resumption of noise broadcasts is a serious issue that could cause direct noise damage, disrupt daily life, and impact the local economy and citizen safety. The city has expressed opposition to the broadcasts and will request fundamental solutions from the central government to protect the living rights of its citizens.
