Paju City requests relocation of Civilian Control Line and Unification Bridge checkpoint
Paju Mayor Son Bae-chan has officially requested the northward movement of the Civilian Control Line (CCL) and the relocation of the Unification Bridge checkpoint. During a visit to the Army 1st Infantry Division, the Mayor emphasized that these changes are essential to alleviate resident inconvenience and foster regional development.
The city administration argues that the current restrictions imposed by the CCL and checkpoints hinder local economic growth and limit access to significant cultural and historical sites, including the Tomb of Heo Jun and Deokjin Fortress. Moving these boundaries is seen as a prerequisite for revitalizing tourism in the border region.
