Paju City to pursue commuter toll exemptions on Ilsan Bridge

Paju City is pursuing a plan to eliminate bridge tolls on the Ilsan Bridge during peak commuting hours, specifically from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The initiative aims to target vehicles registered in Paju, Goyang, and Gimpo.

Currently, Gyeonggi Province provides 50% support for Ilsan Bridge tolls. Under the proposed plan, the remaining 50% would be shared among the participating cities based on actual traffic volume. Paju estimates its share of the remaining costs will be approximately 1 billion KRW annually, representing about 7.5% of the total remaining toll costs.

In addition to the commuter-hour exemptions, Paju is working toward full toll removal on the bridge. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has allocated 500 million KRW for a study regarding the feasibility of making the Ilsan Bridge toll-free.
