Pak Haji Gocap distributes cash to people in need in South Jakarta

A mysterious individual known as ‘Pak Haji Gocap’ has become a subject of local attention in South Jakarta due to his habit of distributing Rp 50,000 cash notes to people in need late at night.

Reports indicate that individuals requiring social welfare services (PPKS) gather along various roadsides, such as Jalan Panglima Polim and the ITC Fatmawati area, often waiting from late evening until the early morning hours. Some individuals wait on mats or cardboard, hoping for the arrival of a white Toyota Innova that is believed to belong to the benefactor.

The phenomenon has drawn the attention of the South Jakarta Social Services (Sudin Sosial) and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP). While the gatherings provide financial relief to some, they also lead to interventions by authorities, as officials often disperse the crowds during patrols.
