Pakatan Harapan denies questioning royal pardon powers

Leaders from the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition have rejected allegations from UMNO that they are questioning the royal pardon powers of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. Danish Hairudin, head of the PKR Youth wing (AMK), challenged UMNO Secretary-General Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki to identify specific statements where PH questioned the monarchy, asserting that PH respects Article 42 of the Federal Constitution.

Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad, Deputy Secretary-General of PKR, added that respecting constitutional powers does not prevent political parties from taking firm stances on corruption, abuse of power, and court rulings. He argued that discussions regarding integrity and legal consequences should not be conflated with disrespect toward the monarchy to gain political perception.
