Pakatan Harapan's Candidate Strategy Ahead of Negeri Sembilan State Election

The Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Negeri Sembilan will retain eight incumbent candidates for the 11 state assembly seats contested on 1 August, while introducing three new faces: Lee Kai Yet (Mambau), S. Mugunthan (Seremban Jaya) and Ho Weng Wah (Temiang). Party secretary‑general Anthony Loke Siew Fook said the incumbents were kept because they are well‑known to voters and have a strong track record since 2013.

In the Jelebu parliamentary area, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, also led by Anthony Loke, announced a "defend two and attack two" approach. PH will defend the Chennah and Klawang seats—held by Loke and Amanah's Datuk Bakri Sawir respectively—and target the Pertang and Sungai Lui seats currently held by UMNO officials. Loke expressed confidence that the coalition’s coordinated campaign will secure the defended seats and mount a serious challenge for the others.

Both moves are aimed at maximising PH’s performance in the upcoming state election, reflecting a cautious renewal of candidates and a targeted contest strategy in key constituencies.
