Pakatan Harapan's hold threatened in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan

Analysts say a Barisan NasionalPerikatan Nasional (BN‑PN) alliance could erode Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) majority in Selangor, where PH won 32 of 56 seats in the 2023 state election. Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin hinted the state could be retaken if Malay votes unite, while issues such as the pig‑farming ban and new worship‑site guidelines may sway non‑Malay voters.

In the neighbouring state of Negeri Sembilan, PH is fielding senior figures Aminuddin Harun in the BN‑held Linggi seat and DAP secretary‑general Loke Siew Fook in the mixed‑ethnicity Chennah constituency. Both contests are seen as tests of whether PH’s governance record can outweigh identity‑based politics ahead of the 16th general election. A win in Linggi would signal PH’s ability to break into BN strongholds, while Loke aims to defend a seat he turned from an MCA bastion into a solid DAP base.
