Pakistan fuel prices: Petrol rises while diesel falls

The Pakistani federal government and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) have implemented a mixed adjustment to fuel prices for October 6, 2026. Petrol prices increased by Rs0.88 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs393.64. Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was reduced by Rs1.88 per litre, resulting in a new price of Rs397.76 per litre.

These adjustments are part of a daily fuel pricing mechanism adopted by the government to respond more rapidly to international market volatility and changes in global crude oil prices. The Petroleum Division noted that the revisions are driven by international developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums, and incidentals.

The shift to daily pricing, which began in July, aims to shield the local economy from extreme market fluctuations. Under the current framework, OGRA issues daily ex-depot prices, though these adjustments are not applied on weekends or public holidays.
