Pakistan Ambassador urges Pakistani-Americans to boost bilateral trade

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has called on the Pakistani-American community to leverage their professional networks to expand bilateral trade and investment. During an event in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sheikh identified the information technology sector as a primary area for potential collaboration through technology services, professional exchanges, and business partnerships.

In a separate address at the University of California, Berkeley, Ambassador Sheikh discussed Pakistan’s role in regional stability and the security challenges posed by instability in neighboring Afghanistan. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic resolutions in South Asia and the Middle East, noting that geopolitical tensions significantly impact Pakistan’s economy and national security.

Additionally, the Ambassador highlighted the severe environmental threats facing Pakistan, specifically the impact of catastrophic flooding and climate change. He noted that despite minimal global emissions, the country faces disproportionate climate risks that disrupt agriculture and infrastructure, calling for increased international assistance for climate resilience.
