Pakistan and China expand cooperation in education and traditional medicine

Pakistan and China are strengthening bilateral ties through increased educational opportunities and medical research cooperation. Chinese universities are becoming an increasingly popular destination for Pakistani students, offering diverse programs in fields such as engineering, medicine, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. The availability of scholarships and enhanced educational cooperation between the two nations has facilitated access to modern research facilities and technical expertise.

In the healthcare sector, officials are exploring expanded collaboration in traditional medicine. During a seminar in Beijing involving the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Pakistan’s ambassador to China, Dr. Syed Ali Asad Gilani, called for joint research and the development of quality-assured herbal products. The initiative aims to combine traditional Chinese medicine with Unani and traditional Arab medicine through modern scientific research, advanced manufacturing, and international regulatory frameworks.
