Pakistan and Ethiopia agree to enhance educational cooperation

Pakistan and Ethiopia have agreed to advance a framework for bilateral cooperation in education. During talks in Islamabad between Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Ethiopian Ambassador Dr. Oumer Hussien Oba, both nations discussed a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening academic ties.

The proposed agreement focuses on several key areas, including higher education, technical and vocational training, STEAM education, research, and academic exchanges. To finalize the terms, both sides suggested that designated focal persons engage to resolve any outstanding issues before the formal signing of the MoU.

Potential areas for university-level collaboration include joint seminars, workshops, guest lectures, visiting scholars, and student networking. Additionally, COMSATS University Islamabad has offered 20 tuition-free scholarships to Ethiopian students as part of these deepening ties.
