Pakistan and Germany seek to expand trade, technology, and healthcare cooperation

President Asif Ali Zardari met with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin to discuss strengthening bilateral relations across political, economic, and defense sectors. The meeting, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, focused on expanding cooperation in science, education, climate resilience, and trade.

In the healthcare sector, German medical technology company Siemens announced plans to send representatives to Pakistan to sign agreements with local partners. These agreements aim to focus on capacity building and technological advancements in the health industry, specifically targeting the treatment of diseases such as cancer and stroke.

President Zardari emphasized the need for research-based and technology-driven solutions to make quality medical services more affordable and accessible, particularly in remote and underserved areas. He also encouraged Siemens to consider further investments in other social and industrial sectors, offering institutional support through Pakistan’s Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
